The hospital stated the service would spare patients the significant expense of seeking scans abroad.
Previously, many Ugandans traveled to nations like Kenya or India for this procedure, incurring costs of thousands of dollars per person. Health officials report a sharp increase in heart disease nationally, with non-communicable conditions now responsible for a substantial portion of deaths. The new domestic scanning capability is projected to lower referral rates and accelerate critical medical care for the population.
