Museveni Vows to Upgrade Historic Isunga Station

President Museveni promised to fix up Isunga Police Station during his Friday visit to Kagadi district. He asked Major General David Mugisha from Special Forces Command and State House Comptroller Jane Barekye to handle the rebuilding work. This station holds special meaning in Ugandan history because of what happened there during the fight for freedom many years ago.

The President talked about February 6, 1981, when he started fighting against Milton Obote with just 27 guns. His team first attacked Kabamba Barracks, where they grabbed military gear before moving through Kagadi toward Isunga Police Station. They took over the police station completely and captured an RPG-7B gun, which became very important to them.

Museveni explained how much they needed that RPG weapon. It added power to the small number of guns they already had from Kabamba earlier that same day. The President mentioned this weapon helped them succeed in later battles against government forces as they continued their struggle across the country.

The upgrade plans show how much the government values places connected to Uganda's past struggles. By preserving and improving this historic site, future generations can learn about the early days when Museveni began his rise to leadership. The station stands as a reminder of how small beginnings led to big changes for the entire nation.
