Three men face murder charges after beating a man to death in Mzimba last month. Police arrested Andrea Mwale, 25, Mavuto Mwale, 27, and John Mwale, 57, for killing George Manda on April 11. The suspects accused Manda of stealing maize before attacking him. Mzimba Police spokesperson Mariah Banda said later checks proved Manda grew the maize himself. The three men stay at Mzimba Prison as they wait for their court date.
The mob attack shocked many people across the area. Mzimba Youth Organization leader Reverend Moses Nkhana praised police for their quick arrests and asked people to tell police about crimes instead of hurting suspects. Police warned that mob justice breaks the law. The men come from Moses Phiri Village under Traditional Authority M'mbelwa.
