Nagarjuna's X post says Shiva will shake theaters again

Annapurna Studios will re-release the 1989 cult classic Shiva on November 14, 2025. Nagarjuna Akkineni announced this decision through his social media platform, timing the release with his father ANR's birthday celebration. The production house plans to present the film in 4K format with Dolby Atmos sound technology for modern theater experiences. Director Ram Gopal Varma responded to the announcement by noting the film's return on Children's Day would bring joy to many viewers. The original Telugu version and its Tamil adaptation Udhayam both achieved significant commercial success upon their initial theatrical runs.

Ram Gopal Varma created the story based on his personal college experiences as an engineering student. Ilaiyaraaja composed the memorable soundtrack that contributed to the film's lasting popularity. The cast featured Nagarjuna and Amala in lead roles alongside supporting actors Raghuvaran, Tanikella Bharani, and Kota Srinivasa Rao. S Gopala Reddy handled cinematography while Sattibabu managed the editing process. The film established itself as a landmark achievement that significantly influenced Indian cinema.
