Namibia's first gentleman has sounded an alarm over behavioral patterns among males following revelations that men constitute 86 percent of drug offenses and 95 percent of gender-based violence in the Kharas region. Denga Ndaitwah addressed attendees at a Keetmanshoop gathering focused on male wellness, citing police data showing 165 narcotics cases, 71 sexual assaults, 14 homicides, and 525 physical attacks committed primarily by men, while all 88 correctional facility inmates are male.
The presidential spouse emphasized that 85 percent of suicides involved men and called for examining underlying factors rather than superficial symptoms. Ndaitwah argued that national development requires shifting attention toward boys and men after advances in supporting girls, noting that families and communities suffer when males engage in destructive rather than constructive behaviors.
