Natasha defies court fine, fakes Senate recall order, says analyst

Legal expert Dayo Fadugba revealed Tuesday that suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has challenged a court ruling that rejected her attempts to secure reinstatement. The Federal High Court under Justice Binta Nyako dismissed every request the Kogi Central lawmaker presented on July 4. Fadugba emphasized that misleading public accounts have distorted the actual judicial outcome. The senator faced multiple defeats when the court rejected her challenges to Senate committee appearances and seating reassignments. Justice Nyako ruled against her unauthorized floor speaking and found her conduct unparliamentary after violating Senate Standing Orders.

Despite these setbacks, Akpoti-Uduaghan celebrated with supporters while falsely claiming the court mandated her return. The judgment actually imposed contempt sanctions requiring a five million naira payment to the Federal Government and public apologies. She has ignored these direct court orders while pursuing an appeal. The senator continues seeking Senate reinstatement based on what Fadugba describes as non-binding judicial observations rather than enforceable directives. Her legal team mischaracterizes advisory remarks as mandatory commands.

The Senate responded by filing cross-appeals and interlocutory applications to protect institutional independence. These measures aim to prevent disruption from deliberate misrepresentation of judicial decisions. Fadugba stressed that governance must maintain focus without succumbing to media manipulation or sensationalist narratives that undermine democratic processes.
