Neeraj Ghaywan admits paying family just 10k first

Director Neeraj Ghaywan addressed reports on Friday that stated he compensated a family with only 10,000 rupees for their story that inspired his film Homebound. The filmmaker clarified through a social media post that the amount represented a personal gesture he gave to Ram Charan during early research phases. Ghaywan emphasized that neither he nor the producers would reduce such a personal narrative to minimal payment.

The director stated that the families received sincere respect and significant support beyond the initial token amount. He declined to disclose the full compensation figure to preserve his relationship with Amrit and Saiyub, whom he referred to as the original heroes of the film. The families have expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by the production team.

Homebound follows the friendship between Shoaib, a Muslim, and Chandan, a Dalit, as they confront systemic injustices and societal prejudices while seeking dignity and meaningful employment. The drama examines identity, caste, and faith against the backdrop of social divisions through the lens of male friendship.
