Negreira's son turns on aggressive dad in Barça case

Javier Enriquez appeared before Judge Alejandra Gil to testify about his father, José María Enriquez Negreira's, financial dealings with FC Barcelona. The witness declared complete ignorance regarding any monetary transactions between his father and the Catalan football club. Spanish publication Sport reported that Javier emphasized the distinct separation between his professional services and his father's controversial arrangements. He maintained that his consulting firm delivered referee analysis reports to Barcelona's senior and reserve squads from 2012 through 2018. The annual compensation for these technical evaluations totaled approximately 70,000 euros through an intermediary named Contreras.

Discovery of his father's invoicing practices shocked Javier during a 2021 tax investigation. Cadena Ser contacted him the following year, prompting further revelations about the longstanding financial relationship. The son expressed anger upon learning that his father had systematically billed Barcelona through various corporate entities. Javier recalled his father's repeated assertions about the ethical restrictions that prevented collaboration with football clubs due to his role as a leader of the referee committee. When confronted about the contradictions, the elder Negreira refused explanations and dismissed his son's concerns as irrelevant personal matters.
