Netflix throws Kurukshetra at India, Mahabharata gets animated therapy

Netflix will premiere its animated series Kurukshetra on October 10, presenting the Mahabharata epic through the eyes of 18 warriors facing moral conflicts and life-altering choices. The show examines broken family relationships and emotional struggles central to one of India's most significant historical narratives. Lord Krishna's philosophical message that war has neither allies nor adversaries forms the thematic foundation of the series.

Director Ujaan Ganguly wrote and helmed the production, while Hitech Animation handled character development. Legendary poet Gulzar contributed lyrics to enhance the storytelling. Anu Sikka conceptualized and created the series alongside producers Alok Jain and Ajit Andhare under the Tipping Point banner.

The series focuses on pivotal characters and their personal battles during the dharmayuddh. Arjuna's internal struggle, Draupadi's pursuit of justice, Duryodhan's ambition and Bhishma Pitamah's wisdom drive the narrative forward. Social media reactions to the trailer showed enthusiasm about reviving Indian animation and curiosity about voice casting choices.
