The Noakhali Division Implementation Committee on Monday requested the formation of the Noakhali Division with Noakhali, Feni, Lakshmipur, and neighboring districts. The committee made this appeal at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club, urging the chief adviser, Prof Muhammad Yunus, to take appropriate action.
Convener AKM Mozammel Haque stated that creating the Noakhali Division would make government services more accessible for residents distant from the capital. He proposed including six districts, as these areas have strong geographical, cultural, and economic ties. Haque opposed the plan for Cumilla Division, pointing out that residents in Noakhali, Feni, or Lakshmipur were not consulted. He said establishing the Noakhali Division would benefit the coastal economy and strengthen local development.
