Nokia chose RISE with SAP on Azure for ERP overhaul

Nokia just handed its entire ERP overhaul to a cloud-and-methodology combo. SAP SE says Nokia inked a fresh multi-year deal, wrapped up at the tail end of 2025, to migrate its SAP landscape via RISE with SAP Methodology, with the S/4HANA environment running on Microsoft Azure.

The plan follows a structured, end-to-end route covering processes, data, applications, and operating models, while Nokia taps embedded AI across SAP's cloud ERP portfolio. SAP handles operating and managing the cloud environment, freeing Nokia to chase business outcomes over infrastructure babysitting.

Nokia's no newcomer here, having run SAP for decades and lately squished multiple ERP systems into one unified S/4HANA landscape. Its current setup already spans central finance, Master Data Governance, Extended Warehouse Management, Global Trade Services, and S/4HANA Cloud for advanced ATP.

SAP's Manos Raptopoulos framed Nokia's call as a business-led transformation with a clean core. Nokia's Marek Očkay pitched a future-ready growth path, and Microsoft's Joacim Damgard hyped a scalable, secure base for continuous innovation.

Azure already hosts parts of Nokia's SAP landscape, so consolidating onto one hyperscale platform should boost performance, security, and resilience.
