NSA to roll out e-ticketing to boost transparency, revenue

Ghana's Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams told lawmakers that electronic ticketing will replace manual systems at National Sports Authority venues to address persistent financial irregularities. The minister testified before Parliament's Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday, October 4, explaining that current practices allow unauthorized ticket sales that create major gaps between attendance figures and actual revenue collected.

Adams pointed to the manual ticketing process as a primary source of fraud, noting that counterfeit passes often circulate at stadiums while legitimate income disappears. The Buem MP said improved network infrastructure will support digital ticketing across sports facilities nationwide, bringing greater accountability to event operations. A newly formed NSA board will launch shortly to supervise the transition and ensure compliance with national financial regulations.

The minister stressed that all revenue must follow proper accounting standards under Ghana's Financial Regulations Act. He confirmed the incoming board will maintain strict oversight of the Authority's spending, requiring ministerial approval for expenditures that exceed established thresholds. Adams pledged the reforms will eliminate unauthorized transactions and restore public confidence in how sports revenues are managed.
