NUP Candidate Claims Agent Abducted and Documents Stolen

A man named Elias Nalukoola from the National Unity Platform party has a big problem. He says someone took his helper away and stole his important papers. He needed these papers to join a special vote for the Kawempe North area.

Nalukoola stood outside the voting office looking very upset. He could not go inside because he did not have the right papers. The papers showed he paid money to be part of the vote.

"This morning is horrible. What has been done is horrible. But we shall not surrender or abandon the noble cause of promoting democracy in Uganda," Nalukoola told people who write news.

He thinks the government took his helper and his papers. He asked all Ugandans who care about fair voting to speak up about what happened.

The people who run elections started meeting with people who want to be leaders today. They will talk to these people at their office near Akamwesi Mall on Gayaza Road today and tomorrow.

The reason for this special vote is sad. The last person who led Kawempe North, Muhammad Ssegirinya, died on January 9, 2025. He was sick in the hospital for many weeks before he died.

Another spot opened up when a man named Yusuf Yakubu Kiggundu died in a car crash in 2022. He was driving to help someone from the National Unity Platform party.

The big vote will happen on March 13, 2025.
