NUP official Doreen Kaija was taken from her Kinawataka home

Security operatives detained Doreen Kaija from her Kinawataka residence on Sunday evening under disputed circumstances. Armed personnel in civilian clothing arrived at her home using two vehicles while she barricaded herself inside for twenty minutes. Local police eventually convinced Kaija to emerge before taking her into custody. Authorities transported the National Unity Platform training school director to the Kira Division Police Station. Kaija campaigns for the Kampala City Hall councillor position in Nakawa East constituency.

Opposition leaders condemned the arrest as an unlawful abduction by unidentified officers. Party spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi criticized security forces for operating without proper warrants while wearing civilian dress. He warned that communities might retaliate against such tactics if authorities continue these practices. The detention adds Kaija to a growing list of detained NUP members. Police officials have not released any statement regarding her arrest or potential charges.
