Nurses Warn Zimbabwe Hospitals on Brink of Collapse

Zimbabwe's nurses warn that public hospitals face a serious emergency. The Zimbabwe Nurses Association told government leaders that workers cannot help patients properly. President Enock Dongo said nurses must create solutions each day just to save lives. Many patients cannot buy medicine or pay for private medical care. Hospital conditions force people to suffer without proper treatment.

Medical facilities lack basic supplies and equipment across the country. Winter weather approaches but many wards have no blankets for sick people. Some buildings have broken windows that let cold air inside. X-ray machines and testing labs either work poorly or not at all. Nurses cannot run important medical tests that doctors need.

Health Minister Douglas Mombeshora visited Parirenyatwa Hospital after people complained about terrible conditions. The largest hospital shows problems that exist everywhere. Medical workers have asked for help many times through protests and letters. Government officials respond slowly to requests for better funding and supplies. Public healthcare continues getting worse each year.
