NVIDIA Puts GeForce NOW on Steam Deck for Half Power

NVIDIA released the GeForce NOW app for Steam Deck users today. The company first showed this app at CES 2025 earlier this year. Steam Deck owners could use GeForce NOW through their web browser before. The browser method worked, but created problems for players. People can download the new app from NVIDIA's website and install it easily.

The cloud gaming service saves battery power on Steam Deck devices. Games use 50 percent less battery when streamed through GeForce NOW compared to running them directly on the handheld. Players can stream games at 1440p resolution and 120 frames per second when they connect their Steam Deck to computer monitors. The service streams at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second when connected to televisions. NVIDIA plans to add 90 frames per second streaming later.

Premium subscribers can use HDR10 features on their Steam Deck OLED models. The original Steam Deck is unable to display HDR10 content. Premium members also gain access to ray tracing and DLSS 4 technology when playing supported games. NVIDIA added six new PC games to the GeForce NOW library this Thursday. The games come from the Steam and Epic Games Store platforms.
