NYA boss tells youth - skip drugs, not Christmas cheer

A National Youth Authority official is telling young people to keep it chill this holiday. The Acting Chief Executive Director, Osman Ayariga, advised celebrating in moderation. He specifically warned against crime and drug use, noting those choices can lead to bad outcomes. Ayariga, who also works as the NDC's Deputy Youth Organiser, shared this message through the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment.

His statement connects to an ongoing anti-drug effort called Red Means Stop. This campaign targets a dangerous tramadol-based substance known as RED. Organized by the youth ministry, the Ghana Against Drugs initiative fights rising substance abuse. Referenced research indicates a serious problem, with over sixty-two percent of adolescents in several Northern Region high schools reporting they have tried illicit substances at least once.
