Ogun State set up over sixteen hundred Women Affinity Groups through the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up, becoming a national model. State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, revealed this in Abeokuta, addressing delegations from nine other states on a study visit.
Adeleye credited Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration and widespread community acceptance for the success. She described the groups as a backbone for mobilizing and empowering women through collective savings and financial literacy. The commissioner noted the state exceeded project benchmarks, forming nearly seventeen hundred groups, the only participant to pass a thousand.
State Project Coordinator Bolanle Fadairo confirmed the visiting delegations came from the federal level and states, including Ekiti, Abia, Kwara, Kogi, Delta, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Anambra, and Ondo. She said the study mission would push the team to improve their women empowerment model further.
