Oil Majors Tank While Young Wildcatters Cash In

Oil companies face hard times as prices fall fifteen percent during the past year. OPEC stopped cutting supply and let member countries pump more crude. American drillers shut down rigs to save money at current price levels.

More than half the oil and gas companies lost spots on the Forbes Global 2000 list. Saudi Aramco fell one position to number four. BP tumbled 374 places to rank 421st on the annual survey.

Some companies still perform well despite market problems. Argentina's YPF jumped 478 spots thanks to President Milei's economic changes. Brazil's Prio joined the rankings as the country's biggest independent oil producer.

Permian Resources made the list at position 1762 with two young leaders at the top. Will Hickey and James Walter run the company at ages 38 and 37. The childhood friends built their business through smart purchases across west Texas oil fields. Their company produces 370,000 barrels daily from 450,000 acres of land.
