Ottawa cops cuff Pannun's aide Inderjit Gosal on gun raps

Canadian authorities detained Inderjit Singh Gosal in Ottawa on firearms possession charges, marking his second arrest within twelve months. The 36-year-old serves as a primary organizer for Sikhs for Justice and acts as personal security for designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Gosal previously faced custody in November after allegedly assaulting Hindu worshippers at a Greater Toronto Area temple before receiving conditional release from Peel Regional Police.

Indian officials classify Pannun as an individual terrorist since July 2020, while his organization received terrorist designation one year earlier. Authorities have registered over 100 criminal cases against both Pannun and his group, with Punjab accounting for nearly sixty of these proceedings. This detention occurs during renewed diplomatic cooperation between New Delhi and Ottawa following strained relations in 2023.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval recently conducted talks with Canadian counterpart Nathalie Drouin, emphasizing counterterrorism collaboration and security partnerships between both nations.
