Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu sent encouragement to students taking their final BECE tests. More than 603,000 students will take the nationwide exam. The number jumped nearly 6 percent from last year when 569,000 students participated. Female students slightly outnumber male students at the testing centers. Students come from both government and private schools across Ghana.
The tests run from Wednesday through next Tuesday. Iddrису visited a testing site in Sunyani with the Ghana Education Service leader. He told students to stay confident and avoid cheating during their exams. The minister said students should trust what they learned and treat the test as normal. He stressed that no cheating would be accepted anywhere across the country.
