Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has disclosed a 1987 incident in which marijuana was covertly placed inside his vehicle at a mechanical workshop in Kaduna. The clergyman shared the account with his congregation in footage that later circulated online.
According to Oyedepo, his then-driver Clifford traveled from Katsina and unexpectedly insisted on cleaning the automobile that morning. While removing the seats during an unusually thorough wash, Clifford discovered a recently wrapped package concealed in the car. Upon opening it, the frightened driver recognized the substance as marijuana and immediately alerted the bishop.
Oyedepo admitted he had never encountered the drug before and was unfamiliar with it. Clifford, who later became a pastor, identified the material as identical to plants his wife cultivated at their home. The bishop attributed his ignorance of such substances to his early conversion to Christianity.
