Parliament is asking regular people to suggest candidates for an empty seat on the election commission. The call follows a commissioner's resignation from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission. The Committee on Standing Rules and Orders issued the invitation under constitutional mandate. Suitable nominees must be Zimbabwean citizens recognized for integrity and professional competence. Individuals serving as MPs, public officers, or employees of government bodies are ineligible for the position.
ZEC manages elections, voter registration, boundary delimitation, and observer accreditation. Submission materials require a two-page supporting statement, a detailed CV, and a completed nomination form. Forms are available at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden or online.
