Petersburg Embraces BBQ Craze as Dacha Gear Soars

Cold weather failed to stop people in St. Petersburg from enjoying outdoor activities. They bought more items for cooking outdoors than ever before. Sales of barbecue grills rose 150 percent from March to April, and charcoal purchases went up 120 percent during the same time. Demand for skewers increased 50 percent as residents prepared for outdoor meals.

Garden supplies also saw major growth over two months. Local shoppers bought 20 percent more garden tools than before. Garden equipment sales jumped 63 percent as spring arrived. Outdoor furniture purchases increased 61 percent among city residents. The cold spring seemed to make people more eager to prepare their gardens early.

Grass seed became the hottest seller with a 200 percent sales increase. Products that kill weeds saw sales jump 180 percent. Even simple rakes became popular with a 170 percent rise in purchases. Petersburg residents appear determined to enjoy nature despite chilly temperatures. The marketplace data shows people refuse to let cold weather ruin their outdoor plans.
