PoJK shuts down as terror, army greed strangle life

A general strike paralyzed Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Monday after the Public Action Committee mobilized residents for territory-wide demonstrations against government policies. Commercial centers shut down, public transportation ceased operations, and telecommunications networks remained suspended for a second straight day across Muzaffarabad and surrounding communities. The committee's comprehensive 38-point reform platform demands abolition of 12 legislative seats designated for refugees, and it seeks elimination of special advantages granted to elite populations. International human rights officials at the 60th United Nations session in Geneva recently documented how persistent terrorism has devastated regional progress, with the 2024 Global Terror Index revealing that conflict zones account for more than 90 percent of global terrorism deaths while Pakistan Army-affiliated corporations extract resources as local populations face mounting economic hardship.
