Professional Sound Alliance was formed to fight AI sound piracy

Professional Sound Alliance wants licenses and payment when professional audio is used in AI, film, TV, and games. The coalition says two problems matter here: AI systems taking library material without approval, and productions using commercial sound assets without valid licensing.

Pro Sound Effects already sells a cleared AI dataset with 1.27 million files and more than 5,000 hours of audio. Its staff tags each recording, while customers listed for related data work include Google, Sony AI, and Dolby.

Douglas Price, Jeremy Siegel, Pierre Langer, Craig Nimens, Karol Urban, and Mark Mangini sit among the founding members. The group plans awareness work rather than lawsuits or a new licensing rulebook.

And AI sound generation is already active. Stability AI offers Small SFX, while Sony AI built Woosh using licensed professional libraries for a private version. The Alliance says unauthorized scraping is the target, not AI use by itself.
