Property manager accused of siphoning $30K in student rent

Stealing rent money from college kids is apparently a lucrative side hustle. Authorities hauled Tatenda Nyamuturira into court for supposedly pocketing thirty thousand dollars meant for housing fees. Prosecutors claim he and a missing partner swindled the cash while managing Varsity Heights accommodations for Chinhoyi University of Technology learners.

The state alleges Nyamuturira worked alongside Aldrich Muchipisi to intercept payments instead of placing funds inside the correct ZB Bank account. They reportedly instructed sub-wardens to funnel cash directly into their private EcoCash wallets rather than sending assets to the actual property owner.

An internal audit eventually exposed the grift when numbers failed to add up. Management noticed discrepancies after cross-referencing student payment schedules against what actually landed in the corporate coffers. The complainant went straight to law enforcement in Harare Central after realizing the massive shortfall.

Magistrate Ruth Moyo granted Nyamuturira bail set at two hundred dollars, while his co-accused remains on the run. Lawrence Gangarahwe told the bench that zero cents have been recovered following the alleged looting spree that left the landlord holding the bag.
