Puri gifts 25L LPG connections on first day of Navratri

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced on Monday that the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme distributed 25 lakh new LPG connections on the first day of Navratri, bringing the total to 10.60 crore households. The petroleum minister described the program as providing freedom from smoke and dignity for women under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. India's LPG connections have grown from 14 crore households before 2014 to over 33 crore currently, while the natural gas pipeline network expanded from 14,000 kilometers to more than 22,500 kilometers.

The minister noted that 90 percent of refills receive online bookings with safety checks on every delivery. Companies such as Indraprastha Gas Limited connected over one lakh rural households with piped natural gas and expanded compressed natural gas infrastructure. The government established a smart gas meter manufacturing facility capable of producing one million meters annually.
