Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan stated that India's Comptroller and Auditor General has achieved an elevated international standing through appointments as external auditor for the World Health Organization and the International Labour Organization. Speaking at the fifth Audit Diwas celebrations, Radhakrishnan noted the institution currently leads the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions and chairs the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions Committee, demonstrating the nation's transition from follower to global leader in auditing standards.
The vice president commended the CAG's 165-year legacy as guardian of public funds while praising recent reforms including unified expenditure classification across union and state governments. Radhakrishnan highlighted technology integration efforts through the One Indian Audit and Accounts Department One System initiative, which incorporates artificial intelligence, blockchain and machine learning into financial management. He also referenced partnerships with IIT Madras for capacity building in data sciences and cybersecurity.
