Kenya Railways says it didn't steal land on Valley Road, responding to politicians Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua's claims. The company's boss, Phillip Mainga, asked everyone to let the courts handle this fight since they are already investigating it.
"Those accusations mislead people. We actually hold the title to that property and never sold it," Mainga explained after Musyoka and Karua met with retired railway workers on Friday. During their meeting, Musyoka claimed these elderly former employees lost their homes and pensions unfairly.
Musyoka accused a powerful government figure of repeatedly taking public lands. He said police were guarding the Valley Road property as developers tore down retirees' houses. Karua added that despite the land being rightfully owned by these former workers, someone influential bought it for millions.
She claimed buyers paid 320 million shillings out of a total of 400 million, leaving just 80 million unpaid. Musyoka demanded all grabbed properties return to their real owners to restore dignity. The railway company maintains these politicians spread false information about the disputed Valley Road land.
