Rapists Out on USD200 Bail, Public Fumes

A judge gave bail to both men accused of raping Mai Jeremaya. Thabo Blessing Dube and Martin Charlie paid $200 each to leave jail. They told the court this case came from a money fight, not rape. They claimed socialite Ashley Masendeke wanted $500 but received only $20.

The court heard how Mai Jeremaya knew their plans for the lodge visit. Defense lawyers showed how the men have stable homes, making them stay for future court dates. The state found no reasons to keep them locked up before trial. Neither man has past crimes or other current cases against them. Both must give up their passports as part of the bail terms.
