Rapper Guru joined the UG Governing Council during a campus event on April 25. Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu led the ceremony, making the SRC President an official council member. The musician, who has hits like Lapaz Toyota, serves both his music fans and students on campus through his leadership work.
During the event, Iddrisu asked new council members to keep UG at the top among universities. Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, who heads the council, said she wants to build on what already makes UG great. The team has 19 people total, with Vice Chancellor Prof Nana Aba Appiah Amfo and former bank head Dr Alhassan Andani among others serving.
The group will tackle better research, more online learning options, student aid, and making friends with companies. Guru balances his music fame with his school duties as he steps into this important role on campus.
