Razer launches RISC-V AI accelerator with Tenstorrent

Razer is making a weird AI gadget with Tenstorrent. They revealed a compact AI accelerator that connects to any laptop with a Thunderbolt or USB4 port. This little box uses Tenstorrent's Wormhole n150 chip based on RISC V architecture, marking a first for a consumer-focused device. It aims to give developers portable power for running large language models and image generation locally. The unit supports daisy chaining, letting users connect up to four devices for more performance on bigger models. This creates a small desktop cluster for edge AI testing.

The partnership leverages Razer's experience with hardware enclosures and Tenstorrent's open source software stack. Developers can access the tools on GitHub. The accelerator emphasizes modularity and high-speed connectivity through Thunderbolt 5. Razer sees this as part of their broader push into AI, targeting developers who need powerful, flexible computing that can move with them.
