Rhinos retain T20 title as rain cancels final

Rain handed Rhinos the trophy without a ball being bowled in a complete anti-climax. The weather totally destroyed the Zimbabwe Domestic T20 finale at Kwekwe Sports Club, forcing organizers to rely on the rulebook. Since the play never started, the title automatically reverted to the team sitting highest on the group stage ladder.

That regulation meant Rhinos retained their championship status simply for finishing two points above Eagles. The guidelines mandate that whenever a decider or super over gets canceled, the club with the superior preliminary record claims the victory by default.

Eagles fans probably feel cheated considering how many unplayable fixtures impacted their season. That squad suffered through three abandoned matches, which was a higher count than any rival faced. Even their earlier meeting with the champions ended as a washout.
