Roland TR-1000 digs up 808 bones for $2699

Roland has released the TR-1000 Rhythm Creator, its first drum machine featuring genuine analog voices in over four decades. The device features 16 recreated circuits from the classic TR-808 and TR-909 models alongside digital options such as circuit-bent variations, FM percussion and PCM sounds. Users can access stereo sampling capabilities, time-stretching functions and 64 gigabytes of memory containing 2000 preset samples with 46 gigabytes available for personal use.

The unit provides an analogue state-variable filter, an overdrive circuit, and digital processors with dedicated controls for each track. A Morph slider enables quick sound transformations while the Snapshot feature allows instant recall of parameter settings. Rear connections supply mix outputs, 10 individual track outputs, external audio input, MIDI ports and USB connections. The TR-1000 sells for 2699 dollars and ships with an internal power supply.
