Rovos Rail crash injures crew in Zimbabwe

A luxury Rovos Rail train crashed into a freight train near Gwanda in Zimbabwe as it traveled to Victoria Falls. Company spokesperson Liezl Maclean said four crew members got hurt, but all 47 international passengers stayed safe. They still went for medical checks after the train cars left the tracks. A railway worker claimed the accident actually injured 18 people, with 14 going to Gwanda hospital and four to Bulawayo for care.

Photos online showed rescue teams pulling an injured person through a damaged roof section, showing how serious the crash was. Officials haven't explained what caused the trains to hit each other. The investigation continues, with both companies staying quiet about details. Rovos Rail offers fancy train trips across Africa, including its special Victoria Falls route that takes passengers more than 1,400 kilometers from Pretoria to Bulawayo. The company started in 1989 and calls its journeys "bespoke safaris" running through South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania.
