RTX 5090 Scam Fills Box With Rice and Pasta

Graphics card scams reached a new level of creativity when criminals used food items to fool buyers. A Dutch customer ordered an expensive NVIDIA RTX 5090 graphics card from Amazon and received rice and pasta instead. The scammer filled the original box with grocery items and added an old graphics card to match the weight. Amazon listed the product as new and shipped it from Spain through multiple locations.

The buyer saved money for one full year to purchase the high-end graphics card. Amazon appeared trustworthy because of previous positive shopping experiences and the company's reputation. Scammers targeted the RTX 5090 because these cards remain extremely difficult to find at retailers worldwide. The fake package passed through several shipping stops before reaching the customer.

Consumer protection laws should help the victim receive a full refund from Amazon. Experts recommend shopping at computer specialty stores rather than general retailers. Buyers should verify seller information and choose official brand partners when possible. Physical stores offer better security than online purchases for expensive computer parts. The victim contacted Amazon for a refund and hopes to eventually purchase the graphics card legitimately.
