President William Ruto has announced the vacancy of the Public Service Commission chairperson role and named a seven-person team to identify a replacement. A gazette notice issued on Sunday invoked legal provisions allowing Ruto to form the recruitment panel, which must advertise the opening, evaluate candidates and submit names for presidential consideration before parliamentary review.
The constitutional body oversees hiring for government positions, manages staff discipline and enforces public sector standards. Commissioners hold single six-year appointments without renewal options. Arthur Osiya will represent the Parliamentary Service Commission, while Jane Joram speaks for the Public Service Commission itself. Additional members are Prof. Nura Mohammed from university leadership, accountant Sylvester Ngei Kiini, professional association delegate Ruth Wambeti Ruraa, government representative Nancy Oundo Dalla and private sector nominee Elizabeth Chesang.
