President William Ruto's UDA party is building friendships with other political parties to create a massive and inclusive force ahead of the 2027 General Election. Ruto explained that under the broad-based government, Kenyans are working together and making sure nobody gets ditched. He noted national unity tackles the biggest challenge Kenya faced for years, which is the fair distribution of the country's resources.
He observed that one group doesn't have to lose for another to win, pointing out that achieving a win-win outcome is totally possible. Ruto said Kenya struggled for ages with sharing a small cake, but the strategy shifted to baking a bigger cake for everybody to share. The president dropped these remarks while hosting over 17,000 UDA grassroots leaders from Nyeri County at Sagana State Lodge. The party had elected these polling centre officials the previous week.
Governors Mutahi Kahiga from Nyeri and Cecily Mbarire from Embu, along with MPs led by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wa, showed up at the event. Ruto observed that Kenya needs bold and visionary leadership, political collaboration, and unity of purpose to transform the country into a first-world economy. He stressed the importance of building strong national political parties that can push the nation's development agenda beyond a single election cycle or individual leader, calling political parties the most important instrument for continuity that consolidates national transformation.
Ruto urged Kenyans to rise above backward politics rooted in hatred, tribalism, and division. He clarified that national development can't emerge from violence, hatred, or tribalism, declaring that leadership, politics, and development get achieved through humility, patience, hard work, and unity. He pledged to keep bringing Kenyans together, affirming he'd use his office positively to hit this goal.
Ruto said he's proud of the development track record over the past three years, noting the government stabilized Kenya's economy, reformed agriculture, healthcare, and education sectors, and created millions of jobs. The government is rolling out ambitious programs across the country, mentioning the construction of 30,000 kilometers of road with 2,500 kilometers of dual carriageways and the expansion of the Standard Gauge Railway from Naivasha to Kisumu and the Uganda border.
