Saint Bhadreshdas bags Saraswati, Sanskrit flex

Bhadreshdas Swami of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha received the Saraswati Samman 2024 award for his Sanskrit text Swaminarayan Siddhant Sudha during a ceremony at BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Shahibaug. The K.K. Birla Foundation established the literary prize in 1991, and this marked the first time a saint earned the recognition, as well as the first Sanskrit work honored in 22 years. Governor Acharya Devvrat and Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri attended the event alongside thousands of devotees. The award carries a 15 lakh rupee prize.

Bhadreshdas Swami credited his gurus Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Mahant Swami Maharaj for the achievement. Justice Sikri stated the work stood above entries submitted in 22 languages. Senior BAPS saint Brahmaviharidas Swami said the honor elevates India's spiritual community. The text promotes equality, knowledge, and liberation through the Akshar-Purushottam Darshan philosophical system.
