Samsung scraps round Galaxy Watch 8 for squircle, Wear OS 6 riles fans

Samsung shook up the smartwatch world at Galaxy Unpacked 2025 with their latest wearable lineup. The tech giant ditched the classic round look that fans loved for years. Instead, they created a bold new shape that mixes squares and circles together. People have mixed feelings about this dramatic change from the traditional design. Some love the fresh approach, but others miss the old circular style.

The Galaxy Watch 8 series packs serious upgrades under the hood. Engineers redesigned the internal parts to make the watch much thinner than before. They added a Dynamic Lug system that fits wrists better and feels more comfortable. Both models feature tough sapphire crystal screens that shine brighter than ever. The Exynos W1000 chip and 2GB of memory keep everything running smoothly.

Health tracking got major improvements across the board. GPS sensors work better for runners and hikers who need accurate location data. Sleep monitoring adds stress tracking and bedtime tips for better rest. The new Antioxidant Index shows how well your body handles daily stress. Running Coach helps athletes track their routes more precisely.

The Watch 8 costs $349 and comes in silver or graphite colors. The Classic version runs $499 and offers more storage space for apps. The Ultra model tops out at $649 with titanium blue styling. All three watches run the new Wear OS 6 system with built-in Gemini features. Samsung started taking pre-orders today on their official website.
