Seven landslides hammer Kampung Kopungit, Kepayan warns Ordine Gilu

Seven separate ground collapses struck Kampung Kopungit in Kepayan between yesterday and today. Two residential structures sustained damage from the geological events. Fire and rescue officials received notification from local village committees about the dangerous conditions. The Sabah Minerals and Geosciences Department confirmed unstable soil composition throughout the affected zone. Emergency responders evacuated two families to the village hall for temporary shelter.

Continued rainfall poses additional risks for more ground failures, according to geological assessments. Resident Mazlan Dullah described persistent anxiety among community members during weather events. The 37-year-old father reported sleepless nights following the initial collapse. Shop worker Rahmah Kitin requested permanent solutions from government authorities. Many villagers resist relocation due to ancestral connections and financial limitations that prevent them from purchasing property elsewhere.
