Shalom Tivatyi, 26, lands dream deal with Imbayedu Art

Shalom Tivatyi secured a transformative interior design contract with Imbayedu Art Collective at age 26. The self-taught designer from New Bluffhill, Harare, describes the opportunity as career-defining and affirming her belief that passion paired with discipline creates unexpected possibilities. The collective specializes in merging African traditions with contemporary aesthetics. Tivatyi receives tools, clear deadlines, and creative freedom that makes her feel appreciated within the organization. Her responsibilities extend beyond space decoration to collaborating with design and technology teams for website presentation.

The single designer without children views this contract as the foundation for larger aspirations. She plans to continue freelancing while developing construction skills and project management expertise. Imbayedu Art Collective, meaning Our Home in Shona, values the partnership beyond commercial considerations. Creative Director and Chief Curator O'Neal Tanaka Maisiri praises Tivatyi's reliability, punctuality, and ability to create under constraints. Her work incorporates identity, sustainability, and cultural elements that transform interiors into cultural narratives representing Zimbabwe.
