Myanmar's top Buddhist monk, Sitagu Sayadaw, showed up at the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya for the opening of some big scripture recitation event. The famous religious figure blessed the crowd and talked about keeping Buddhist teachings alive while standing at the spot where Buddha supposedly reached enlightenment.
The ceremony pulled representatives from India's government, and a bunch of monks and regular believers from Asian countries made the pilgrimage. Officials from tourism departments and Buddhist organizations attended, alongside the former head of Nalanda University.
