Spielberg’s new alien thriller hints at cosmic truth

Steven Spielberg has a new sci-fi movie coming out called Disclosure Day. The film stars Josh O'Connor, Emily Blunt, and Colman Domingo, with Wyatt Russell and Eve Hewson also appearing. It asks what would happen if proof of alien life were revealed to everyone on Earth.

The director reteamed with his longtime screenwriter, David Koepp, for this project. Spielberg famously explored UFO themes decades ago in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The new movie's trailer shows Blunt as a meteorologist possibly possessed during a broadcast. O'Connor's character pushes to expose the galactic truth.

Teaser billboards recently appeared in Los Angeles and New York. The footage hints at strange animals and crop circles, suggesting we are not alone. One character questions why a vast universe would contain only humanity. Spielberg himself has stated he finds it mathematically impossible for humans to be the sole intelligent life.

Disclosure Day is scheduled for a summer release through Universal Pictures. It marks Spielberg's first directorial effort since his semi-autobiographical film The Fabelmans.
