Stanbic Bank Uganda CEO Mumba Kalifungwa showed off his golf skills at the April Mug Challenge last weekend. He started early at Uganda Golf Club, making the top ten list among players. This marked his second time playing since becoming CEO, having previously competed during heavy rain at the Stanbic Match Play in Entebbe.
Rino Kitimbo won the tournament with 65 net points, taking first place on the merit table. Yunus Bbale, Menon Manoj, and Francis Tusiime won the men's group. Gloria Mbaguta and Ruth Ssali led the women's categories, with Martha Babirye and Ruth Muyege as runners-up. Jennifer Apio and Geoffrey Matata topped the seniors board with scores of 74 and 66.
The bank plans to keep backing golf tournaments across Uganda, according to Arthur Kiwanuka from Stanbic. He said the bank wants to stay part of customers lives beyond just money matters. Club Captain Paul Rukundo praised Kalifungwa for playing despite his busy schedule. The annual challenge brings together both expert and new golfers from around the country.
