Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers sponsored The Library installation at ART X Lagos, which just hit its tenth anniversary, with a theme about reimagining African cities. The setup was basically a quiet zone filled with books from the G.A.S. Foundation art library, curator research materials, cinema programming, and Bruce Onobrakpeya pieces.
CEO Olumide Oyetan said the whole thing was meant to show how imagination connects to long-term planning and financial security, not just art. They also ran a kids tour that brought 60 students from schools in Abeokuta, Ikotun, and Makoko to check out contemporary art. The pension company has been backing the fair since it started in 2016, and they threw in a private VIP session for high-net-worth clients to look at pieces while talking about legacy and the African art scene.
