Student Rights Rebels Storm Gambia Heritage Sites

Sixty students from five human rights clubs finished a study trip to important places across Gambia. Action Aid International Gambia's Kudang office organized the five-day journey for upper and senior secondary school members. The tour focused on free education rights and aimed to make classroom learning better. Students came from Niamina Area schools and visited government offices and historical locations.

Saiba Suso manages the local Action Aid office and said the trip helps students learn about key institutions. Human Rights Commission staff taught visitors about protecting citizen freedoms and fighting unfair treatment. Students saw how the commission works to defend people against government abuse and discrimination. The meeting showed young people how they can demand justice and equal treatment for everyone.

Banjul International Airport workers explained immigration rules and security checks to the touring group. Students watched airport operations and learned about travel procedures for international flights. The visit gave them behind-the-scenes knowledge of Gambia's main travel gateway. Action Aid headquarters staff discussed community programs and social justice campaigns with the students.

James Island and Juffureh showed students where Kunta Kinteh and other enslaved people suffered before ships took them overseas. Kanilai Wildlife Farm and Kartong stone circles completed their historical education tour.
