Survey shows rise in career focus among Russian workers over past two years

Russian workers care more about climbing the job ladder these days. SuperJob researchers talked to three thousand people who have steady jobs across the country. They wanted to learn what matters most to working Russians right at this moment. Almost one out of every three workers puts professional success ahead of everything else. Career climbing has become much more popular during the past two years.

Love and relationships still win out for many Russian employees. Four out of ten people said romantic connections matter more than advancing at work. However, more than one quarter of workers focus heavily on moving up the corporate ladder. The research shows Russians split pretty evenly between personal life and professional goals. Different age groups make different choices about what comes first.

Men between thirty-five and forty-five years old pick love over career advancement most often. Nearly half of these guys said relationships beat job success every time. Women under thirty-five also lean toward personal connections rather than workplace achievements. About four out of ten younger women choose romantic partnerships over professional growth. These patterns show how age affects what people value most.

The numbers changed quite a bit from just two years ago. Back during 2023 research, nearly half of all Russians put feelings before career goals. Only about one quarter cared more about advancing at work during that earlier survey. The shift shows Russian workers started caring more about professional success recently. Economic conditions might explain why people focus more on job advancement today.
