Shahjalal University of Science and Technology administrators approved new names for six residential halls during their 237th syndicate meeting on Thursday. The day-long session concluded at 10 p.m. with decisions affecting both existing and future campus facilities. Vice-Chancellor Professor AM Sarwaruddin Chowdhury announced the changes to reporters following the extended deliberations. University officials also selected a new designation for their research facility.
Three operational halls received fresh identities through the syndicate vote. Bijoy 24 Hall replaces the former Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall designation. Ayesha Siddika Hall becomes the new name for First Female Hall. Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall transforms into Fatimatuz Zohra Hall.
Construction projects will bear different titles when completed. The ten-story male residence is named Gazi Burhan Uddin Hall. Sumaiya Binte Khubbat Hall identifies the upcoming female accommodation building. M Saifur Rahman Hall designates the international student facility under development.
